After learning how important to use technology in the classroom,
Chapter 4 gives me some idea about how to use it to design my lessons.
Chapter 4 gives us an overview about what is lesson
development. Lesson development refers to all the activities that teachers
do as they plan, construct, deliver, and evaluate lessons with students. All
the teachers should know that lesson development and design includes three
decisions by teachers (1) what to teach (2) how to teach, and (3) how to know
what students have learned. In 21st century, technology plays an important
role in lesson development. A teacher should be able to use technology to
enhance academic content, learning assessments, teaching goals, methods, and
procedures. As a future teacher, I always ask myself a question: how teachers
can engage students and incorporate technology into the lessons. I have done some observations in different classrooms
and I found that even using the same technology, different teachers would make
different results on teaching. It is not because of the technology, however, it
is the different design of the lesson.
A teacher who is very successful in using technology in her math class give
me some good website that she used in her class. I said that I want to make my future class like a study playground and all the students can learn something useful in playing. I feel like that this teacher is a good model for me. I want to share what she use in her classroom with you. The website helps students to learn by playing, which also make me have a lot of fun in using this technology.
The more I learned and read, the more I feel I need to enrich myself. As a teacher, we need to make myself always be "fresh". Technology is a good way for all of us to learn new things and we need to find a good way to make a technology-classroom for our students. Computer must a good helper for teachers. We need to use it effectively. Also, I need to say that I have no experience in teaching so I hope you can give me more advice in teaching.
Questions:
1.How are lesson planning and student assessment enhanced by technology?
2. How can teachers evaluate and assess students' learning?

Hello Mandy,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the link to the Math Website. I immediately added it to my bookmarks and will add it to the helpful links on my class website. This is just one example of how lesson planning can be done effectively- teachers sharing ideas. I always say that other teachers are the best resources and it is amazing what others know. When we put our minds together, the students really benefit!

ReplyDeleteHi Mandy,
ReplyDeleteI really like what you said that you want to make your future class a playground. The way you would like to teach decides what you would like to incorporate into your lesson plans. I'm sure you will make your class a playground, because I can tell you really care how to make the learning environment relaxed and playful.
Also, thank you for your links. I'm always amazed by the fact that we actually have myriad websites and so many people devoted to education and sharing. We can't know-it-all, but we can learn how to locate a better answer.
Hey Mandy
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
I think lesson planning and student assessment is enhanced greatly by technology. Before technology everything had to be written out from scratch. Now we are given templates for making lesson plans. Also students know that we are 1 phone call or email away from letting their parents know that they are fooling around in class, unlike before technology when we sent a letter home and maybe the student would "lose" it or try and alter it. I think to answer the 2nd question we saw in class that app classroom dojo I think it was called that really helps in student management. There are many other ways that we were showed and I'm sure are going to be introduced to which I cannot wait for!
